Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e is not a rescue medicine. It will not work fast enough to treat an asthma attack. Use only a fast acting inhalation medicine for an asthma attack.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUse only the inhaler device that comes with \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e Flexhaler. Do not place the device in water or try to take it apart. The Flexhaler device has a dose counter that shows how many doses are left inside. The dose-counter indicator may not appear to move until about 5 doses have been used. Do not use an extra dose just because the Flexhaler indicator has not moved to a lower number after just one use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlways rinse your mouth with water after using the \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e Flexhaler, to help prevent thrush (a fungal infection in the mouth or throat). If you are using a nebulizer with a face mask, wash the mask area of your face after each use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDo not allow a young child to use \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e Flexhaler without help from an adult.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e Respules should be used only with a standard jet nebulizer connected to an air compressor. Do not mix with other medicines in the nebulizer cup (reservoir).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYour doctor will need to check your progress on a regular basis. Your vision or bone mineral density may also need to be checked.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUsing a steroid can weaken your immune system. This can make it easier for you to get sick from being around others who are ill.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYour dose needs may change if you have surgery, are ill, are under stress, or have recently had an asthma attack. Do not change your medication dose or schedule without your doctor's advice.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCall your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after the first week of treatment, or if you think your asthma medications are not working as well. If you use a peak flow meter at home, tell your doctor if your numbers are lower than normal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn case of emergency, wear or carry medical identification to let others know you use a steroid medication.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eWhat if I miss a dose?\u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSkip the missed dose and use your next dose at the regular time. Do not use two doses at one time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eHow should I store this medication?\u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStore at room temperature, away from moisture, light, and heat. Keep the cover on your inhaler device while not in use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStore \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e Respules upright in the foil envelope. When you are ready to use the medicine, remove an ampule and put the strip back in the envelope. Once you have opened an envelope, you must use the ampules within 2 weeks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eWhat should I avoid while using Pulmicort?\u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAvoid getting Pulmicort in your eyes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAvoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Call your doctor for preventive treatment if you are exposed to chickenpox or measles. These conditions can be serious or even fatal in people who are using steroid medicine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eWhat are the possible side effects of using this medication?\u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGet emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ehives,\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003erash,\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003esevere itching;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003echest pain,\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003edifficulty breathing,\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003efeeling anxious;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eswelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCall your doctor at once if you have:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eworsening asthma symptoms;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ewheezing, choking, or other breathing problems after using this medication;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ewhite patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eblurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003esigns of infection - fever, chills, body aches, ear pain, nausea, vomiting; or\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003esigns of low adrenal gland hormones - worsening tiredness or muscle weakness, feeling light-headed, nausea, vomiting.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eBudesonide can affect growth in children. Tell your doctor if your child is not growing at a normal rate while using this medicine.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCommon \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e side effects may include:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003erunny or stuffy nose, sneezing;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ered, itchy, and watery eyes;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003efever, sore throat, cough;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003enausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, loss of appetite;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003enosebleed; or\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eheadache, back pain.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Some drugs can affect your blood levels of other drugs you take, which may increase side effects or make the medications less effective.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTell your doctor about all your other medicines, especially:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eantifungal medicine (such as ketoconazole\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003edrugs that weaken the immune system such as cancer medicine, or medicines to prevent organ transplant rejection;\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eseizure medication; or\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eother steroid medicine (fluticasone, dexamethasone, methylprednisolone, and others).\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are 495 drugs known to interact with \u003cstrong\u003ePulmicort\u003c\/strong\u003e Turbuhaler (budesonide), along with 7 disease interactions, and 1 alcohol\/food interaction.
